Functional Independence Skills Handbook

F.I.S.H. is an assessment and curriculum that offers programs for people with developmental disabilities. This handbook offers 421 specific lesson plans targeted to teach in the domains of Adaptive Behavior, Affective (Emotional) Skills, Cognitive Abilities, Sensorimotor Skills, Socialization Skills, Speech & Language, and Vocational Skills. Lesson plans attempt to use real life materials and teachable moments as much as is reasonable. A pre-test/post-test concept is recommended in order to demonstrate student progress in an objective manner. Test completion yields a graph that demonstrates the student's functional independence levels as well as any success that occurred during the training period. It is designed for use by Special Educators, Para-Professionals and Parents.
