Turkey Feathers 101
By David Mitchell

You will need a sharp knife, a box of borax and of course turkey wings.

Lay wing underneath side up. Start your knife at the "elbow" of the turkey and slide your knife along the bone towards the "wrist" where the primary part of the wing starts.

Holding the knife parallel to the wing bone makes removal much easier.

When you get down to the "wrist", you are ready to break the joint. This will take a fair amount of pressure to snap.

After snapping the joint at the "wrist", twist side to side and sever with a knife to finish removing the bone.

Here we have the bone completely removed from the wing.

If you are keeping your primaries for fletching, remove the primary wing from the secondary wing. If not, keep in tact.

Last step, apply a liberal amount of borax to the removal site. This will soak up the remaining fluids and start the drying process. Placing wing in the sun will speed up this process. Let dry till crusty.

This is the finished product. At this point carefully fold up and place in a cool dry place until shipping.
