ADOT ARRIVES
HIGH TECH FUTURE
You have reached the home page of the Shillville Historical Society.  Thanks to a generous grant from the ADOT foundation and dozens of volunteer hours by residents of Shillville we have been able to compile this website featuring our little piece of paradise. The site is still under construction, but the gallery featuring historic and modern shots of Shillville is open, so please drop in.

logo Where some see chaos, others see opportunity.

When a one megaton nuclear weapons test created a huge crater in the barren wasteland of New Mexico in the early 50's, most people dismissed it as a radioactive hellhole unfit for human habitation.  In a way they were right.

The crater was soon colonized by a band of hardy clowns, con-men, and stock touts, drawn to its

isolation and freedom from SEC oversight. They proudly named their new home Shillville, and set about to build homes, a printing factory, and spam and fax blast capability.

Shillville was born!
