1) Representation

The Chamber serves as the voice of the business, civic, industry and agricultural communities and plays an active role in expressing your views to all levels of government. A Chamber Officer or Director attends pertint city and parish council meetings.

2) Resource

Finance, marketing, management, e-commerce, law and legislation, and more - we work with Amite City Officials, Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation, SLU Business Development Center, Tangi Office of Tourism, Hammond and other area chambers, LABI (LA Business and Industry), local attorneys, CPA's and legislators. If you have a question about a specific problem your business is having, it can be referred to one of our Chamber partners. A monthly newsletter written and published by the Chamber disseminates information from these various resources.

3) Networking

Through Chamber involvement, members have the opportunity to make professional contacts that can result in profitable business relationships. Various committees work on different issues or events that widen member's scope of contact. The Chamber After Hours specifically serves as an informal networking tool in a social atmosphere.

4) Promotion

The Chamber provides a variety of ways to promote your business by advertising in its newsletter, on its web site, sponsoring events, addressing membership meetings, serving on committees, and authoring newsletter articles. A monthly newsletter is for and about members,. This news source goes out to approximately 300 area business. In addition, your promotional materials (provided by you) are displayed in the Chamber building.

5) Business Referrals

The Chamber receives hundreds of inquires each year for products and services from inside and outside of the area. Chamber members are the first to be referred to these individuals or firms. In addition, mail outs include Chamber business names.

6) Business Directory

Each member receives a complimentary listing in the Chamber's business directory. These directories are mailed out to area residents once per year.

7) Education

Once per month at the general meeting, a speaker presents a variety of useful mini seminars pertaining to marketing, money, management, e-commerce, law and legislation. These are called "Food for Thought" sessions.

8) State of the Parish and State of the City Reports

Once per year the Chamber invites the Parish President and the Mayor of Amite to speak to the members regarding current and impending events. A question and answer period follows.

9) New Business Start-Up Packet

New businesses and those thinking of starting a business benefit from information about city services, sales tax, utilities and demographics.

10) Exposure at Chamber Events

Opportunities for high visibility from sponsorship, advertising or participation for your business are available through several Chamber events: October- The Annual Bon Appetit Festival: December-Christmas Parade: and in April-Annual Chamber Golf Tournament.

11) New Member Benefits

New members to the Chamber receive a new member packet containing information about the Chamber and its benefits. They also receive one free ad in the Chamber newsletter.

12) Conference Room Availability

The Chamber building has a conference rooms available on a reserve basis for member use.
