MOVING DAY

Said the Mama Cat to her babies
(Although they were too young to care)
“We’re going to move today, my dears,
This old bar is too crowded t share.

Our new home will be under the porch
With shelter from rain, and ample space,
We’ll have a visitor now ant then,
My friend Shep who is too old to chase.

Shep and I have been good friends for years
In the winter we lay side by side
Enjoying naps by the fireside heat,
With his friendship, you too can abide.”

One by one Mama Cat carried babes
In her mouth by the back of their neck,
Ending that day she was heard to say,
“You can walk next time we have to trek.”
