Lunar eclipses occur about w\twice in a year and last for a few hours. Lunar eeclipses are the action of the moon passing through the earth's shadow.
There are three different types of lunar eclipse
1.) Prenumbral Eclipse - the moon passes through earth's prenumbral shadow.
2.) Partial Lunar Eclipse - A portion of the moon goes through the earth's umbral shadow
3.) Total Lunar Eclipse - The entire moon passes through the earth's umbral shadow.
In a rare instance in 1982 there were three total eclipses in one year.
