Stopping time-- at 55 mph it takes 2 1/2 football fields to stop an 18 wheeler. Merging into traffic when getting onto the interstate on a ramp, do not match traffic speed, either speed up & proceed or slow down & merge safely.Trying to exit the interstate-- do not wait til the last minute to merge right across traffic to exit the interstate especially in front of 18 wheelers, because first you have to pass me then you have to hit your brakes hard so you don't hit the vehicle in front of you.
