SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom Birthday Bash is a WebQuest created by the Algebra II Honors students of Marion High School as a year long project used to give students a way to create a web site for the educational purposes of younger students. In Sponge Bob’s Bikini Bottom Birthday Bash students will engage in activities that will review and reinforce basic skills taught in the first grade.Students will complete various tasks assigned to them by Sponge Bob in preparation for the big surprise birthday party of his friend, Patrick. Math, English, and social studies have been incorporated into each task in unique ways that get students thinking creatively and critically.
Students can be introduced to Sponge Bob and the rest of the citizens of Bikini Bottom by showing them a video clip of the popular television show that airs on Nickelodeon. From there the task can be introduced and the teacher can lead students in a discussion about different things associated with birthday parties. As a teacher, your job is to lead discussions, help students with accessing technology needed to complete certain tasks, and answer any questions the students may have while completing this WebQuest. The focus of this WebQuest is to show students how skills learned throughout the school year can be applied to everyday situations.
