Minnow, the fennec fox

Fennecs are the smallest member of the fox family. They max out at around 3.5 pounds, females can be even smaller. They have no musky odor like other foxes. When bottle fed, they are very friendly, much like a dog, and ferret combined. They are very hyper, and very amusing! I feed Royal Canin mini puppy and Royal canin kitten mixed together. She also gets some veggies, pinky mice and meal worms. Fennecs need more protien then other foxes, and need taurine as well.

Some fennecs are impossible to house break, but minnow took to it right away. She goes back into her cage to relieve herself on a puppy training pad. Ive chosen not to train her to a litterbox because fennecs dig ALOT, and sometimes will sleep in a litterbox. When not being supervised, they should be confined to a large cage, like a ferret, or dog crate. They are very prone to hurting themselves, and can be distuctive if left to their own devices.

She is very affectionate. When not bouncing all over the floor, or climbing on a cat, she is on my lap. I find her to be an exceptional exotic pet, and is easier to care for then a ferret. The only negatives that I have found are that in some states they may be illegal, or it may be hard to find a vet willing to work with them.
