About Me

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
UPDATE 2004: Turned 18, got a LiveJournal, tried to get a life, may have got a boyfriend although he's usually on the wrong side of the country, bought a fake fur coat, want to dye my hair purple, don't talk about That Band anymore, finished the first novel, started a new one, trying to start a band called Uncle Fester and the Wednesdays, would never sign off ANYTHING with the words "stay beautiful" anymore, can't be bothered to delete the embarassment below, no one's reading this, are they? Nevermind.
Most of the people reading this will already know me, cos you're my friends who I've managed to bully into visiting this site. But in case any strangers happen to have slipped into this black hole, this bit is about me. Obviously I've got some deep need for attention (see site address) but I think a personal website needs something personal like this. So this is my life, which as we all know is ending one minute at a time...
I'm Hannah (if any of you sad nethead people ever end up on the manics.co.uk forum and see the username 'Hannastar', that's me too. I'm usually the one arguing politics, bitching about how shite the Manic Street Preachers are these days, talking about alcohol and black eyeliner and generally getting on people's nerves.) I'm 17 now, and praying it won't, it can't possibly be any worse than being 16.
My aim for this life is either to write the Great British Novel before I'm 25, or to be an evil, alcoholic NME critic who hates the world. My friends all think I'm mad because the first thing I do after coming home from a gig is write about it. But I'm very coherent when wasted, covered in sweat, with my ears ringing. (Hey, it worked for Hunter S. Thompson.) Most of the gig reviews I've written will appear on this site as soon as I can be bothered to put them there. Also short stories, some bad teenage poetry and maybe extracts from my novel. Some constructive criticism would be nice, raving praise or a publication deal even better. If you've written anything you think is any good email it to me (address on homepage) and I might think about putting it in the 'writings' section...
Apart from writing I try to survive AS-levels, watch films, go to gigs, argue a lot. Just your average stuff. I'm the proud owner of a beautiful Aria bass guitar, which hopefully I may even be able to play someday, as I want to be in a band. Preferably a feminist socialist riot grrrl punk band. Called The Candybabes.
Some more random stuff... I think the internet is the best thing since electric tin-openers. I'm an obsessive Manics fan who isn't anorexic, doesn't cut myself and wouldn't be seen dead in leopardskin. Several people I know have refused to watch films with me because I love to analyse the deep'n'meaningful reasons why a certain shot or colour was used. I wear the shortest skirts known to woman and fishnet tights, often in winter when it's raining. Any colour as long as it's black. I say a lot of stupid things, but people are learning to deal with it. The best book ever written is either 1984 or The Little Book of Complete Bollocks, I can't decide. Oh, and I like Star Wars.
That's enough of that I think... check out the rest of the site if I haven't put you off already!
Love & stay beautiful
Hannah
