This isnt really in depth. If it was you would be reading for ever. So go with the flow and read.
July 17, 2002. The first official night UnknownBMX started. The site was finished and started out pretty slow. Then after a few days it started to pick up. I started to update the site more and more, adding new pictures, picking up new riders to support us, and doing a little more advertising. Updating the site was pretty hard then since I didnt have an internet ready computer at home, so I had to do it at my friends house. The first night I decided I wanted to make a website strictly about BMX, my friend (a skater so he wasnt much help since he didnt know BMX terms) and I talked over a few names. Here are some names that came to mind: IndustrialBMX, INBMX (IndianaBMX), UntitledBIKECO, N/A BMX, and Indiana BMX Association. I had different ideas with all of these, but then when I was laying in bed it hit, "Make a site for unknown riders, like myself." Then it hit me, UnknownBMX. So I went into Paint, and made some logos. After a few logos were made I stuck them on the nameless site (remember UnknownBMX didnt officially start until July 17, the site was actually nameless for 2 days) and posted them all over the web. After a month I made the Online Magazine, and that really brought in the people. After a few months went by, sometime around September I got a request from a rider named Ken Hensell wanting to know if there were any spots on the team open, and he attached some pictures. After I seen about 4 of them I knew he had it, so I welcomed him to the team. By this time I was in school and I could update the site everyday and work on more features. I got to school about an hour early one morning to put the first issue of the Online Magazine together, and it was a success. I got more mail from people like Rob-O and Vic M. saying how they liked going to a site that wasnt all caught up in different clicks in riding and was strictly about the riders that kept it going. To hear that from them was awesome. Now lets see, where are we, oh, thats right, Fall 2002. By Fall UnknownBMX had over 12,000 hits (July-Ocotober) and I was pretty physched, so I added 3 more features. A guestbook, part reviews, and music (which is in the works again, and will be up soon). One morning I got into school I checked the internal counter on the site that tells me how many people visited the site since the last time I checked and it said 439. I was stunned, in one night that many people visited the site. So I looked and looked but couldnt find the real reason why people came. I mean come on, 439 people dont just find your site out of nowhere and go. So I started polling people on how they heard of the site, and 3 hours after the poll was up, it was all made clear. BacklashBMX. So I go to the site I never heard of, and sure enough they had a little story and follow up link to the site. It took me a while to figure out how that happended, so I thought I would email Shane Neville and ask him. He said he got a lot of requests of a good AM site called UnknownBMX, so he thought he would add it. Once again, thats awesome. Winter 2002. Winter was the slowest month for UnknownBMX, there were snow days and vacations from school so I couldnt update the site for a 2 week period which hurt the site bad. But then, when I thought all was gone, I got the internet at my house and went right to work for 3 nights and regained all my normal visitors plus new ones. Then one night while sitting here thinking about what to write for the magazine, I get an IM from somebody named Socks88. I think to myself, what in the hell is that? I forgot I had a buddy list thing and they added me. Turns out it was Brett Bemis. After a few weeks of talking and BMX photos, he was on the team. And that brings us to Spring 2003. That wasnt to long ago, so there arent to many memories YET. Well, I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. UnknownBMX has been awesome for me, and hopefully for you. There are times when I think if it wasnt for UnknownBMX, I dont think I would be into BMX as much as I am now, not saying that I wouldnt be into it, just not as much. Just expect to see/hear more from me and UnknownBMX in the many years to come.
