~ Christian Spiritual Warfare ~
Our mind is the battlefield of spiritual warfare. The overall objective of spiritual warfare is to "have the mind of Christ". The power of the Holy Spirit enables us to take on the mind of Christ. Keeping the mind of Christ is the good fight of faith. Accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is only the first step of spiritual warfare. It is now a battle of endurance to keep the mind of Christ. Spiritual warfare does not focus on the destruction of the devil, the flesh, enemies, the world, or death. These things are already defeated.
The Objective of Christian Spiritual Warfare is Our Mind
Christian spiritual warfare is totally focused on the mind. What is in the balance is whether our mind will be controlled by the natural man or by the Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit enables us to take on the mind of Christ.
Christian Spiritual Warfare Is a Fight of Faith
Christian spiritual warfare is all about faith. Christian faith and hope gives us the power to fight in order to have the mind of Christ and lay hold of eternal life.
Christian Spiritual Warfare is One of Endurance
Christian spiritual warfare does not end when someone accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is only the beginning of spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare then becomes a battle of endurance. Yes we have the assurance of salvation, but we will now have to endure a great fight of afflictions.
Christian Spiritual Warfare Focuses On Christ and Not The Destruction of the Enemy
Again Christian spiritual warfare focuses totally on conquering the human mind in order for us to take on and keep the mind of Christ. Spiritual warfare does not focus on the destruction of the devil, the flesh, enemies, the world, or death. These things are already defeated (Psalms 6:4).
Praying is the way to win in Spiritual Warfare
Through prayer we shall prosper in spiritual warfare. The prayer that God desires from us comes from the heart. When we delight in prayer and seek God's truth day and night, we will prosper (Psalms 1:2-3, "But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper").
Prayer Equips Us for Spiritual Warfare
Ephesians 6:18. Prayer gives us protection and strength to endure in spiritual warfare. Prayer enables us to focus on God and equip us for spiritual warfare. Prayer reveals to us God's truth and righteousness that we need to maintain the mind of Christ. Prayer strengthens our faith enabling us to withstand anything that our enemies may throw at us. Prayer maintains our salvation and our knowledge of God's love. Prayer in conjunction with our continuous study of the Bible fully equips us for spiritual warfare (Ephesians 6:14-18, "Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;")
