Copper Canyon
The state of Chihuahua is home to, among other things, Copper Canyon, one of the most popular, most scenic cultural journey's in the Western Hemisphere. The name "Copper Canyon" refers to the copper/green color lichen that grows on the canyon walls.Copper Canyon is inhabited by the tarahumara indians, which number to about 50,000. Four times larger than the Grand Canyon in the United States. Four of its canyons are deeper than the Grand Canyon, some by over 1,000 feet. Accesible by many ways, the Canyon is viewed best by train. In fact, the train journey features one of the world's greatest engineering feats, taking 90 years to make, and also amazing scenery and some of the most primitive aboriginal culture left in the America's.
