GIBONEY, ROBERT: Age: 19.  Enlisted as Private in Co C 15 May 1863 in Wayne County.  Paroled as Private, Co D, at Wittsburg, AR 25 May 1865.

GIDDINGS, JULIAN N.: Age: 28. Enlisted as Private in Co C 15 Aug 1862 in Wayne County.  Horse appraised at $175 and horse equipment at $20.  Elected Captain 24 Sep 1862.  Detailed to sit on a court-martial 6 Feb 1863. Resigned 27 Feb 1863 due to physical disability.  Resignation was effective 26 May 1863. Surgeon's statement indicates "pulmonary consumption" as disabling him from further service.  Giddings’ problems with the Federal government after his resignation and return home are documented in the Provost Marshal files at the Missouri State Archives in Jefferson City, MO on Roll F1325.  Those records indicate that he was 28, 6’ tall, with blue eyes and light hair.

His enlistment data is not of record.  Paroled as Private, Co E, at Shreveport, LA 7 June 1865. Residence: New Madrid County.  Died in July 1900 and is buried in New Hope Cemetery, New Madrid County, MO.

GIMON, JOHN: Age: 31. Enlisted as Private in Co A 19 Aug 1862 in Bollinger County.  Discharged for reason not of record 28 Sep 1862.

GIVENS, GEORGE WASHINGTON: (Served in Missouri State Guard as a surgeon in the 7th Division) Age:?  Paroled 7 Jun 1865 at Shreveport, LA as acting assistant regimental surgeon.  Residence: Lebanon, Laclede County, MO.

GLAVES, DANIEL L.: Age: 25.  Enlisted as Private in Co C 20 Oct 1862 in Wayne County.  Deserted 25 Oct 1862.  Returned to command and present until Transferred to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863.  Returned to command and Transferred to 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery) in 1864.  Reportedly fired the first artillery round at Battle of Pilot Knob, MO 27 Sep 1864. Paroled with Harris' Battery at Grand Ecore, LA 6 Jun 1865. Served as commander of the Col. Aden Lowe Camp, United Confederate Veterans, at Fredericktown, MO, in 1896. See Goodspeed’s History of Southeast Missouri, p. 871, for a biography. Died 26 or 27 Aug 1918 at Fredericktown, MO and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery there. An obituary may be found in the Confederate Veteran, Vol. 26 (1918), pp. 450-451. Residence: Madison County.

GLIDEWELL, RUFUS A.: Age: ? Enlisted as Private in Co G 10 May 1863 at Wittsburg, AR.  Transferred to dismounted cavalry 26 Jul 1863 at Searcy, AR.  He remounted and returned to command at date not of record.  Transferred to 4th MO Field Artillery (Harris' Battery) in 1864 and paroled with that command 6 Jun 1865 at Grand Ecore, LA.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

GLIDEWELL, TERRY W.: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co B 17 Aug 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Arrested by Union troops while home on sick leave 28 Oct 1862 and sent to Myrtle Street Prison, St. Louis, MO.  (No Further Record).

GOBER, LEWIS C.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division). Age: 33.  No record.  Prison records indicate that he was a Private, Co A.  Taken prisoner of war in Cape Girardeau Co, MO 28 Aug 1863.  Records of incarceration show that he was 5’ 11” with black eyes and hair. According to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, np, he was released upon taking the oath of allegiance to the Federal government and posting bond on 29 Feb 1864.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

GOINGS, JACKSON: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 21. Enlisted as Private in Co C 20 Oct 1862 in Wayne County.  Died from cause not of record at Batesville, AR hospital 4 Apr 1863.

GREMAR, LOUIS: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Private, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 20. Enlisted as Private in Co I 14 Aug 1862 in New Madrid County.  Horse appraised at $50. Transferred to dismounted cavalry at Searcy, AR 26 Jul 1863.  Paroled at Wittsburg, AR 25 May 1865. Residence: New Madrid County. Died as result of an accident on 13 Aug 1884.  Buried in Branham Family Cemetery near Portageville, MO.

GRIMSLEY, SION T.: Age: 35. Enlisted as Private in Co A 10 Sep 1862 in Bollinger County.  Horse appraised at $130 and horse equipment at $12. Discharged for reason not of record 23 Dec 1862, but he was apparently sick, for according to a descendant, Amalie L. Barger, he died shortly after his discharge.  He was a younger brother of William Cage Grimsley.

GRIMSLEY, WILLIAM CAGE: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Major, 4th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division) Age: 48. Initially enlisted as a Private in 7 Mo Cavalry Regiment. Enlisted as Private in Co A 5 Jan 1863 in Bollinger County.  Detailed to quartermaster department 5 Jan 1863.  Record also notes "detailed as Forage Sergeant for regiment from enlistment."  (No Further Record). Died in 1887, and is buried at Liberty Cemetery near Boydsville, Clay Co., AR. HAHN, ALFRED A.: Age: 22. Enlisted as Private in Co A 19 Aug 1863 in Bollinger County.  He was a patient in the Searcy, AR hospital on 20 Aug 1863.  Surrendered himself at Cape Girardeau, MO prior to 30 Sep 1863, and released on posting $500 bond.  Died 23 Mar 1872 and is buried in Hahn Cemetery, Marble Hill, MO.

HAHN, BENJAMIN F.: Age: 19. Enlisted as Private in Co A 19 Aug 1863 in Bollinger County. Horse appraised at $75 and horse equipment at 10.  Surrendered at Cape Girardeau, MO prior to 30 Sept 1863 and released on posting a $500.Bond. His pension application is on file at the Missouri State Archives, Jefferson City, MO.  Died 28 May 1918 and is buried in the Eaker Cemetery, Bollinger Co, MO.

HAHS, DAVID: Age: 23. Enlisted as Private in Co G 1 Nov 1862 in Cape Girardeau County.  Horse appraised at $60 and horse equipment at $2.  Paroled as Private, Co B, at Shreveport, LA 7 Jun 1865.  Residence: Cape Girardeau County.

HAISLIP, JONATHAN: Age: 40.  Enlisted as Private in Co I 17 Aug 1862 in New Madrid.  Horse appraised at $125 and horse equipment at $12. Elected 2nd Lieutenant 1 Dec 1862.  Promoted to 1st Lieutenant at date not of record.  On or about 26 Mar 1863 he was charged with the offenses of making a false declaration to the regimental commander, and his company commander, to obtain a leave of absence, and with being absent without leave from 28 Jan until 9 Mar.   Outcome of charges is not known. Resigned to take a position as a private in the ranks effective 26 May 1863.  Brigadier General John S. Marmaduke, the Division commander, who described him as “unreliable and unfit for his position”, approved his resignation. Resignation accepted 8 Jun 1863. (No Further Record). Subsequently served as Sergeant in Co B, 7 Mo Cavalry Regiment.  Died 21 Jul 1879 and buried in Hagy Cemetery, Dexter, MO. Residence: Stoddard County.

(or J.): No service record.  According to Eakin, Missouri Prisoners of War, n.p., he was a Private in Co A who was captured in Bollinger County, MO, on either 2 or 12 Dec 1862, and after serving in prison at St. Louis, MO, was transferred to Alton, IL, military prison. Died of cause not of record 25 Jan 1863.  However, his name appears on a monument to the Confederates who died as prisoners at Camp Morton, IN, with a date of death listed as 28 Jan 1864.

HANNERS, HIRAM JACOB: No record of service.  His pension application on file in the Missouri State Archives indicates that he enlisted in Co G, in Aug 1864, and that he was paroled at Pine Bluff, AR.  More than likely he enlisted during the Price Raid that began in Sept 1864.

Left sick at Byrd's Island, Cape Girardeau Co, MO 27 Apr 1863.  Returned to command at date not of record.  Made a prisoner of war at Mine Creek, KS 25 Oct 1864.  Sent from Rock Island Barracks, IL to Point Lookout, MD for exchange 13 Mar 1865.  After exchange, he was one of over sixty men placed under the charge of Lt. Robert H. Stockton, 2nd MO Infantry Regt, who was to escort them from Richmond, VA to the 1st MO Brigade at Mobile, AL.  The contingent of former prisoners left Richmond by rail on or about 24 March 1865, but after the first fifty miles the trains ceased running and the group was forced to proceed on foot.  They reached Eufaula, AL on 12 Apr.  Lt. Stockton learned of the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee at that point and released the men to go where they wished. See Confederate Veteran, 12 (1904), pp. 380-381. (No Further Record)

He was a charter member of the Captain S. S. Harris Camp, United Confederate Veterans, at Jackson, MO, in 1896. He died 28 Apr 1919, and his obituary is in the Missouri Cash-Book, Jackson, MO, 1 May 1919.  Buried at Apple Creek Cemetery, Cape Girardeau Co, MO.

Transferred to Co K 6 Dec 1862.  Left sick at Denmark, AR 20 Aug 1863.  (No Further Record).  Wounded in the head during Price's Missouri Raid according to an unidentified newspaper article in compiler's possession.  His pension application is on file at the MO State Archives, Jefferson City, MO.  He died in May 1923 and is buried in the Hopper Cemetery, Cape Girardeau County, MO.

HUNTER, JASON H.: (Served in Missouri State Guard as Major, 2nd Cavalry Battalion, 1st Division) Age: 44. He was a veteran of the Mexican War with the 1st North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Recruited an infantry company (Company A, 1st MO Infantry Battalion) that he took east of the Mississippi as its captain. Resigned his commission and returned to the Trans-Mississippi Dept. Served as assistant quartermaster for Jeffers' MO Cavalry Battalion from 14 Nov through 10 Dec 1862.  Appointed regimental quartermaster 15 Dec 1862 with rank of Captain.  Paroled at Jacksonport, AR 5 Jun 1865.  Residence: Bollinger County.  He represented the county in the state legislature at the beginning of the war.
