Julie-O's Putt-Putt
Popular and attractive, Pebble Beach is a course that everybody is bound to like. The Pebble Beach Golf Course in California is the trademark for American golf. For those who do not keep up with professional golfing, this course will attract their attention because it is set on the scenic California coast. In order to represent the true course, our eighteen hole miniature golf course will contain water that is dyed blue to resemble the ocean water and rocks to signify the jagged shores. We will special order our putting carpet to be a dark green to look like the sought-after lush grass only found at the authentic Pebble Beach Resort. As for the experienced golfer, he will be curious to try out course called Pebble Beach, and to keep him coming back, we will more than satisfy his experience by creating each one of our eighteen holes to be as real and as challenging as the real deal. It will be difficult to produce miniature golf holes to exactly resemble each one of holes at Pebble Beach Golf Links so we will emphasize authenticity in the signature holes, such as the par three number seven which has a severe decline of 50 yards. Of course our drop-off will not be as sever, but all the characteristics of the sand traps and surrounding ocean will be the same. Another hole, for example, is famous for its blind tee shot to the fairway. In this case, the golfer can only guess where to aim and will not be able to see his ball land. His second shot to the green is dangerous because the green is placed within a few feet of the shore and is very fast. This hole will be reproduced on our golf course by hitting the ball up a hill that slopes a great deal to the right. If the golfer does not hit the ball at the right speed and in the precise direction, the ball will surely roll back to him. In the event that the putt rolls far enough, the player will not see where his ball will end up. The chance of getting a hole-in-one on this hole is about 1/1000, mostly because of the difficult tee shot. A tee shot struck too softly will come back down the hill, but a tee shot that is hit hard enough to reach the hole is extremely difficult to accomplish because there is a small margin greater than required speed to reach the hole. This is because a ball hit too hard will fly off the top of the slope and hit a wall. The dangers on this course are obviously apparent to the golfer of any ability.
The Scottish Highlands, on the other hand, has a taste of history and evokes a majestic feeling. The course will be decorated with miniature buildings that resemble the golf clubhouses in Scotland. Scotland and Ireland are famous for having very little water but very tall, thick rough on their golf courses. Since their golf courses have rural locations, our holes will be decorated with farmers and sheep. Scotland is also famous for its wind and rain, but that is near impossible to simulate, though renovations may come in the future to create such an atmosphere. For starters, what we can do is engineer thick rough using a different type of turf. The greens of Great Britain are world famous for their quick speeds so we will use a carpet of shorter grain. This carpet will not be a lush green; rather, it will be light brown, creating a more realistic atmosphere of cold weather and dry grass which is widely present in Scotland. To add to the speed and to lift the course from ordinary to extraordinary, we will engineer these eighteen holes to be a links course. This means that there will be some variation in overall elevation, but what defines a links course is the presence of numerous mounds. It is not too difficult to putt the ball the right speed over mounds, but it is very difficult to judge the direction of the putt for it to go into the hole.
