Pseudotropheus Demasoni are hardy little dwarf cichlids that have somewhat different peronalities and tendancies than that of other mbuna cichlids.  They tend to stay in the rocks more than most of the other fish, and worm their wayin the smalles cracks.  I have not noticed any real aggression towards any of the other fish in the tank, orther then other Demasoni.  I started out with 4 of these little beauties, but the male slowly killed off the other male, then each of his females.  Now I am left with just one.

Coloration of the fish are identical in both sexes.  Like most cichlids, the males will be slightly larger and have brighter more distinct colors, as opposed to the paler colors of the female.  I believe this has to do with the moods of the fish.  If you have a dominant female, it may even display male colors.

It is recommended that you keep a 1:6 Male:Female ratio Demasoni in a tank, and keep at least a group of 12.  That was my mistake, I did not have enough of them.  I plan to try to get more, if I can find them at a good price.  If anyone knows of a good dealer, shoot me a message.
