DOLLS & FASHIONS IN THE UK

Well, welcome to the United Kingdom. It's drizzly and wet as ever, but it does have some rather interesting contributions to make to the world of Jem.
And a few paradoxes.

The first of these is the girl pictured above.
Yep.
Britrock's own Misfit, Jetta.
Those familiar with the cartoon series will know that Jetta is the British Misfit.
But Jetta the DOLL was not sold in the UK.
Why?
Various theories abound.
The traditional, conservative (and probably true) reason is simply that she was produced late in production. The fact she isnt on her box indicates this as strongly as anything. Totally Jem has a lot of information on this theory and if I were you I'd go check it out - Brian knows what he's talking about!!
But there is another theory, and one which to me is equally plausible.
Was Jetta not sold in the United Kingdom because of her infamous bad language?
American readers might not be aware of the fact that the word "bloody" used in the context Jetta uses it in KJEM and one other episode is a mild swear word here in the UK. Jetta is British and the possibility of her not being sold here because of that become all the more plausible when you consider a few striking facts.

Fact One: Jem production in the Uk was a year behind that in the US. Therefore Jem began in 1986-7 nor 1985-6 and terminated at the close of 1988. Therefore Hasbro would have had ample time to release the final Misfit - if they had seen fit to do so.
Fact Two: Sometimes there are some odd rulings in the UK based on television broadcasts. It's a well known fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series was forcibly renamed Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles because people felt that the word ;Ninja' would incite kids to play at martial arts. So could this be another example of broadcasting and issuing boffins placing an embargo?

Of course, Synergy, and the Starlight Girls were also not sold in the UK and there seems to be little similar logic for that, so the first idea might well be the true one.
But ooh...
Sometimes I wonder.

Jetta and company aside, the UKissue seems to have been as follows.

The issue dates of Mexican dolls are still tenuous and unproven. My feeling is that, as they are dated 1986 and come with various second edition style instruments, they belong with this year rather than the first year.
