Cyber-crime Agency gets the EU Go-Ahead.
The latest development in the world of cyber-crime is the forthcoming launch of a new agency, having obtained approval from the European Union, to fight cyber-crime. This new agency will be called European and Network Information Security Agency (ENISA) and will act in a similar way as Interpol does. It will help various police forces and agencies around the globe in a common effort to prevent and fight cyber-crime.
The agency will be initially located in Brussels, Belgium but the intention is to move to a more permanent location in the near future. Some of the tasks that ENISA will cope with are risk assessment and management and raise awareness of the public. Furthermore, it will perform some serious research in the sector of computer security.
ENISA's aim is to operate both as the link for many European law enforcement agencies and as a global knowledge and research resource centre.
