Why we LOVE Clay Aiken
For me it was his performance of "Build Me Up Buttercup" that did me in. Up until that point I'd admired his voice, but I was still voting for Kimberly Locke.
Here are just a few of the reasons why fans love Clay. Please email me with your own reasons and I can add them on.
- His voice, obviously
- He has a good heart
- He's changed and grown so much since his first audition it's amazing. The phrase "geek to chic" is commonly used, but I prefer "from nice to Aaaaaeeeee! Hummina hummina. *pant pant* Squeal!"
- His beautiful green eyes
- His beautiful smile with those cute little teeth
- When he sings, the hair on your arms stands up (in a good way!)
- His name provides an endless number of puns, play on words, catch phrases and other silliness. Clayniacs, Claymazing, Clay-Day, Yay Clay, Clay-Do, Clay all the way, Claynadians, Ameraikens, Aiken4Clay, Aiken Leaves Me Shakin', Heart-Breakin' Clay Aiken, Aiken-addicts, Booty-shakin Clay Aiken....you get the picture.
- Let's just say, when he's done singing, I need a cigarette. ;)
- It's been said again and again: That voice coming out of that body. Looking at Clay you would never guess that his trim frame could produce such a powerful voice.
- The laugh and the giggle. They are two different things, and we love them both!
- That darling southern accent--don't ever lose it, Clay!
- Those adorable freckles!
- Even when he had every right to be bitter and angry over the way American Idol was handled, he came through with class.
- His confidence. From the moment he strolled out to sing "Always and Forever" for Simon and Randy to him walking out on stage to sing "Bridge Over Troubled Water." He *owns* the stage.
- Grease!! The hipshake on stage, the "Lot of humility..." comment from him about the performance, the "Oh, c'mon! No!" when Ryan asked him to do the hip thing again. And Clay + Red Leather Jacket + White T-shirt + Blue Jeans = *THUD*.
- The hand motions in "I Can't Help Myself." Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. ;)
- The EARS!
- The hair, whether it's spiky or flat, red or brown--whatever.
