"My observations of the two shots:

Cardiff Reef http://www.wavecam.com/cardiff/005.htm

Sheybogan http://www.lakesurf.com/CharlesImage1.JPG

1. Cardiff is wave blues are prettier and more nice textured than the Sheyboygan greenish whatever.

2. The Cardiff rider is another afraid of soup surfer? He could easily be much deeper. The Sheboygan rider is in the exact right spot on that wave . In this instance the ocean surfer might do well to use the Lake surfer as a role model. I have noticed that Great Lakes surfers are not afraid of powering soup and often rider deeper in the wave than ocean surfers.

3. Cardiff surfer has a 30 foot wave stance on a maybe slightly overhead wave that could be nicknamed Mr. Rogers. The Sheboygan surfer is standing tall, proud and relaxed during the start of his carving the bottom turn.

4. Both waves are peaks. The Cardiff surfer is going right because southern California is has next to zero left point breaks and is setup best for rights. The Sheboygan surfer is going left because we have a higher proportion of right foot forward surfers on the Lake, the Lake has so many left point breaks, and often the set up is best for lefts."

[I ask you - Have you finished laughing yet]?

Later,

BA
