Time for a bit of reflection?
Santa Ana winds stopped blowing yesterday - wind switched to south - blew southwest today - and tonight it's blowing from the northwest.
Was this the first time the Santa Ana winds blew for a couple of days? NO
Was this the first time in So-Cal history that we had the winds and fires? NO
Was this the biggest fire in So-Cal history? YES
Do I remember the fires in the past 30 - 40 years? SOME
I remember when the fires used to burn in the back country - even in the Mira Mesa, Mira Mar, Scripps Ranch, Poway areas.
Was the destruction as great back then? NO
There was hardly a Poway, there was no Scripps Ranch, no - no - no - not much of anything of high value [like a $600,000 house] in alot of the areas that were burned.
The freeways - a real oxymoron - were jammed - all weekend - what a surprise - they're ALWAYS jammed!
There just ain't no infrastructure to take care of San Diego's current population.

Easier times in San Diego more than 50 years ago?
======================
We can't turn back the clock [more than an hour per year]
Maybe the sleepy Navy Port of San Diego - even with it's rather risque downtown - and lack of freeways - and its relatively small population - had a "higher quality of life?"
