Schloss Lenzburg

Lenzburg Schloss

A document from the year 1036 calls Ulrich, Count in the eagle's region. He was an imperial steward of Zurich as well as Kastvogt of the abbeys Beromünster and Schänis. The first secure knowledge about the existence of a castle comes from the year 1077: Ulrich, a grandson of the called on top, had positioned himself in the Investiturstreit on the side of the German emperor and held on two papal legacies during half a year. The Counts of Lenzburg belonged at that time to the most significant feudal lords in the Swiss middle land and maintained narrow relations with the respective German emperors.
