Burg Bernau

The castle originated presumably in the 11-th century as a seat of the open air of Bernau; the first documentary mention of "Bernowa" occurred 1157. By inheritance she reached in the 13-th century to Messrs. von Gutenburg and 1379 to Messrs. von Rinach. The small rule Bernau enclosed the high one and the low jurisdiction about abdomen town, Gansingen and Schwaderloch.

After the confederates had conquered in 1415 the eagle's region, the border ran between the county Baden and Vorderösterreich through the middle of the castle tower, which is why the owners of the Bernau two men served. 1499 the castle was destroyed during the Swabian's war, however, was rebuilt afterwards.

Messrs. von Rinach sold the rule in the 16-th century to the family of red mountain, this again in the 17-th century to the family of rolling from the canton Uri which thereby acquired an Austrian title of nobility. During the 19-th century the castle changed several times the owner in short distances. In 1844 the castle burned down completely. Preserved have remained merely poor leftovers of the main tower and the ruling house. Today 1672 established castle chapels with the family crypt that of rolling is the chapel of the cemetery of body town.
