Meeting: Sammy's Touch N Go

April 16th, 2004

Wes will call Eden Westside about their database.

Friday June 4th, 2004 5:30P.M.-11:00P.M. Pell City will host a block party.

We will have a booth to hand out pamphlets. We will need volunteers to do this, the more volunteers the less time each will have to volunteer.

October30th, 2004 12:00-4:00P.M. We will be part of Safe Halloween at Fire Station 1.

Need to call Michael Barber about getting into the school to start up the date violence classes for next fall.

Training dates for information on task forces

June 22 -Advance task force class at the Birmingham YWCA

June-2 Basic task force class at the Clanton, Al Alabama Power Building

August 13- Basic task force at Parker Memorial Church, Anniston Alabama

September 10 - Basic task force in Gadsden

September 24- Advance task force in Troy

May Minutes

The meeting was held on the 21st at Sammy's Touch and Go Restaurant. The following items were discussed:

Block Party- The party was scheduled for June 5th from 5-11 P.M. The group discussed setting up a booth.

The council has a  web site now.

Domestic Violence training was set for next meeting.

We will  sponsor "walk against Violence Awareness" in October. 

Chief Turley discussed the VSO (Victim Service Officer) grant the Pell City Police Department had received.

Ed Brasher called the meeting to order
 
Item of Business: Domestic Violence Awareness Run/Walk set for 3 p.m. October 30, 2004 at Avondale Track. This will precede the Safe Halloween event at Pell City Fire Station. Task Force will invite the Mayor of Pell City to give a speech and read proclamation. News Media will be contacted by Task Force to cover event. Members of Task Force will help publicize event and enlist participants. No money/Sponsorships  will be solicited for the Run/Walk.  
 
Speaker: Pat Motley, Alabama Head Injury Foundation
Ms. Motley delivered a very enlightening speech concerning head injury, particularly in victims of domestic violence. She informed the group of symptoms of a head injury, particularly behaviors to look for. Ms. Motley urged shelter care providers to add head injury questions to intake paper work for victims, and suggested resources for this population. Ms. Motley also made group aware of services provided to anyone with a head injury regardless of circumstances of injury.
