HISTORY
The Simplex was purchased on 4th August 1920 by Messrs. Wm. Exeley and Sons, Brick Tile Works, Broseley, Shropshire. The purchase price was £1265.
It was purchased by Herbert Morris of Loughborough on 4th December 1935 for £475 and converted from petrol to diesel at this time.
Recent history includes.
- August 1990 Sold to Ruddington Heritage Centre and stored (abandoned) at Rushcliffe Halt.
- 13th January 2000 Purchased by The Simplex 2028 Association and returned to Ruddington by rail.
- 27th February 2000 Engine restarted for first time in 15 years.
- 21st March 2000 Simplex moved under own power again.
- 11th July 2000 Simplex appeared on BBC T.V. "East Midlands Today" and on Radio Nottingham.
- 23rd July 2000 Simplex named "Morris" at Ruddington's Diesel Day
- 24th July 2000 Naming ceremony broadcast on BBC T.V. "East Midlands Today".
- 14th April 2001 Morris moved to Quorn by low-loader
- 16th April 2001 Moved to Loughborough under own power wrong way down main line
- 6th May 2001 Forties weekend at Loughborough station
- 7th May 2001 Forties weekend at Loughborough station shunted coach platform 1 to platform 2
- 8th May 2001 Back to Quorn under own power down main line.
- 11th May 2001 Moved to Snibston Discovery Park
- 27th May 2001 Snibston opening ceremony
- 27th June 2001 Moved back to Ruddington
- 28th July 2001 Diesel Gala Morris at Rushcliffe Halt with 37667
- 29th July 2001 Diesel Gala Morris at Rushcliffe Halt with 37667
- 2nd August 2001 Towed Ruston 88ds back from Rushcliffe Halt to Ruddington
