The people you are about to meet on this site range widely – in age, where they “live,” and more importantly, why they are in jail.  But one thing they all have in common is unbearable loneliness and the aching desire for friendship.   Remember, in this virtual world, online chats and email are unavailable to inmates since they do not have access to computers.  Your snail mail letters become cherished keepsakes that promote human rights and rehabilitation when you write to prisoners.  Also, this site will let you e-mail your first message along with a return address. We will print and send them directly to the inmates, saving you the cost of postage.  Prisoners love to receive mail.  This is important information, but not nearly as important as remembering that these are lonely, forgotten human beings who have lost so much – friends, family, freedom.  Often their right to vote is lost, and many who were married end up divorced and single – completely alone.  These inmates will rejoin our society one day.  That hopeful transition to a better life, a productive life, can be positively influenced by your kindness and compassion when you offer words of encouragement in a simple card or letter.  They are seeking a positive influence in their lives - someone to look up to and be encouraged by.  Your card or letter may seem a small, insignificant thing to you, but to those who never hear their name at mail call, your words become a treasured keepsake to inspire and motivate, to be read and re-read again and again.  Together, we can reduce recidivism through letter writing.  Clearly, these are society’s lost souls.
