This little poem is about believing in ourselves. I remember watching the "Making Of Dances With Wolves" on TV. It was directed by Kevin Costner and he had his 2 little children acting in one scene where some Red Indians were chasing them. During the shooting of that scene, the kids were supposed to run while looking behind at the Red Indians. Problem was, the scene was only shot with the kids running WITHOUT the Red Indians. Kevin Costner told his children, "Believe there are Indians chasing you. If you believe it, we will too!"

IF…

If you think you are beaten… You are.
If you think you “dare not”…You Don’t.
If you’d like to win but think that you can’t,
Then It’s almost certain you won’t.

If you think that you’ll lose…  You’ve lost.
For out in the world, we find…
Success begins with a person’s will,
It’s all in the state of the mind.

If you think you’re outclassed…You are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself, before,
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go,
To the stronger or faster man,
But, sooner or later the person who wins,
Is the one who Believes that he can.
