Trix
I am proud to announce the new addition to our farm that finally arrived on May 2, 2005. His name is "Nugget". Today, I had my last final in nursing school and got home around 4pm to find Trix leaking milk out of her bag. She seemed to be in mid stages of labor, so we called our vet. He agreed that since it was so warm and nice to allow us to give her oxytocin and help her along since it was going to be quite cold tonight. Within 15 to 20 minutes, Trix was in full labor and sweating. I made a video but to no avail, lost it in amongst all the excitement when uploading it to my computer. I do have some video of Nugget and his first time on his legs. Anyway, Trix had no trouble at all having him. We were so excited to see him come out and breathing healthy and oh so nicely painted up with color. He has turned a lighter shade of black, gray to me but He may even get lighter as time goes by. He is so beautiful. I have imprinted him. He already lets me play with his ears and his legs. I have probably taken off his blanket umpteen thousand times with no problems. He couldn't quit find the milk bar for several hours, so we milked Trix and fed him twice with a bottle with no problems there as well. He is now nursing nicely. He is so cute with his little blanket on. I feel like a new mother again. This is so exciting and I can not wait till I see if Kevin will allow me to bred her back again. She has had a hard time in the past getting a live foal on the ground. She late term aborted two of them and the last was born with a tough bag and it suffocated because we were not sure when she was bred then either. We had not gotten her off fescue early enough so she formed a fescue founder which made the bag to tough for the foal to break through it. I blamed myself, which I should had because we should have watched her closer. Well I get her off fescue this time. I just wished I had then my webcam like most of my new friends I have found online through foalnet.com. Be sure to come by the community board and register and tell me about yourself.
1-9-06 Update on Nugget: He is growing very quickly and getting very tall. He has turned black and white, just like his grandsire and sire. He already has such a set of jaws on him that he will have monster jaws when he gets older. He is such a sweetheart. Scared of nothing and will just play with you.
