Hello and welcome to K & A Farms website.
I am Kevin Hairston from Henagar, Alabama. I was born and raised here and worked on a large farm that consisted of cattle, horses, chickens, and hogs. I am 35 years old and have been married for 14.5 years to my wonderful wife, April. We have three gorgeous children named Zac, Kortney, and Haylie. We currently have six AQHA horses, one unregistered horse,  and one AMHA stallion of our own here at K & A Farms.

To Tell you a little about my experience with livestock, I would need to write a biography and of course we all do not have time for that now. But I will tell you that I have 25+ years under my belt with Quarter horses and cattle. My experience consists of breaking, training, riding horses and farrier work. I have shod horses for the public for over 20 years now.

My current activities with horses are team roping and team penning. I am also currently training several horses for different people to their liking. My technique of training is very similiar to the Clinton Anderson with a few change ups here and there. For the most part, it is all about gaining the trust and respect of the horse. I also want them to respect me the same way they want me to respect them though. My goal in life is to become a large animal veterinarian specializing in Equine. April tries to push me towards this goal but I just hate school.

April, age 34, is a graduate of Snead State Community College with her license in practical nursing. She has the desire to work in Hospice. I admire her courage for going back to school after all these years of being a stay at home mom and housewife. She now works as an LPN at a doctor's office. She just finished 9 months of work in a local nursing home where she adores her formal residents. April is originally from Fort Payne, Alabama.

Zac, whom is in the 8th grade this year, is very diverse in sports. He loves all kinds of ball especially baseball and football. He stands 5'10 1/4" and weighs in at 220lbs. The position he plays in baseball is pitcher and third base. You can guess what he plays in football, yeppers you guessed it, Lineman. He is an awesome helper around the farm, working with the horses and doing chores as well.

Kortney is our second born. At age 12, she is an all round animal lover. I can see her becoming a vet, but of course this must be her goal not mine. When you read the memorial of Molly, you will see why she is the one that misses Molly the most. She had been thrown off as a younger child and when Molly came back into our lives, we could not get her off her for the other two to ride. Of course, Haylie thought she had more to say about Molly and being the baby, pretty much got her way. Kortney is now currently training our chocolate lab to jump barrels and pretty much is succeeding at it. Our lab's name is Emmaette, Emma for short.

Update: Sadly, Emma died in 2005.

About Haylie, she is our 8 years old. She is definitely my blood. She has cowgirl wrote all over her. We are trying to get them all started in 4-H.  She started showing Bull this past showing season locally and didn't do half bad.  She placed two 1st,  two 2nd and one 3rd place in Walk-Trot.

Well, after telling you all about my family, I have a mini bio started. So I will stop for now and let my lovely wife's fingers rest a bit

(being how she is the typer of the family).

Thanks again for visiting our site. Please be sure to visit the message board and say hi and tell us where you are from.

Ya'll come back now yer here.
