After death, the souls of the righteous are sent by the immortals to the Island of the Blest (Elysium), a favoured region in the underworld of Hades. Only those that have pleased the Gods during their brief life on earth are allowed in this pleasurably place.

Elysium is in a sense like the earth, it has a sun and stars of its own; grassy playing-fields and yellow sandy beaches. Though, it is protected as the souls in Elysium cannot be grasped and are like phantoms.

According to some, in Elysium live also those who are not yet born. These souls swarm along the banks of the river until their time to be reborn.

It is here that our souls dwell in peace and serenity until we each are born or reborn into the fragile world above. We have all taken our turns as the honoured, exalted, righteous, and dignified in our many life times. Pleasing our Gods to give us tranquility in this blessed place of afterlife.

Until the time will come when we may move on to start again as the availed.
