ALABAMA NEARING END OF THE SEASON, WILL PLAY AUBURN THIS WEEK
Alabama will close SEC play this week with Auburn in the Iron Bowl. While it seems to have been a disappointing season, a lot of good things have happened. Our team has played tough all year, they haven't given up. Mike Shula surely has not given up. He is just getting started. We have had some rough spots in the seasons, with several heartbreaking losses, including a loss to the #1 team in America by a touchdown, a loss to a very good Arkansas team in three overtimes, and finally a five overtime loss to Tennessee. Not only did we lose some tough games, but we lost tough players to injuries, including Wesley Britt, Brodie Croyle (he's back, but hurting), and Spencer Pennington. We should not lose hope. Although we are down now, we will not stay down. Let's end or SEC season with a win against the barners.

TIDE WINS SEASON OPENER, DROPS BY A TD TO #1 OKLAHOMA
The Tide is back in business. With a season opener win against South Florida, Mike Shula made his debut as the new head coach. The Tide got off to a slow start, but tied the score before the half at 17. In the second half, Alabama rolled over The Frogs, winning by a score of 40-17.

Saturday, Alabama played the #1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Alabama's head coach proved Saturday that he has what it takes to be the head coach at the University of Alabama. Alabama played well defensively, but the offense got slowed down by the #1 defense in the country, but they didn't shut them down. In the end, the Sooners prevailed by a touchdown winning the game 20-13. The boys played there hearts out Saturday. They did a great job and I hope we see that kind of work in all our games this year. Shula has turned out to be a great coach so far, let's hope he keeps it up, and I think he will. ROLL TIDE!

COACH MIKE SHULA AND PLAYERS APPEAR AT SEC MEDIA DAYS
"Good morning everyone.  It is good to be back in Birmingham and it is a pleasure to return to SEC Media Days, though things have changed a bit since I was here as a player in 1986.  I remember what an honor it was to be chosen to attend this event and how much fun we had being here.  It is still an honor to be here and still fun!  It is good to see that interest in SEC football continues at an all-time high as evidenced by the number of media who are here today.

"Speaking of media, I would like to say how much I appreciate the patience everyone has shown me in these early days of my tenure at Alabama. It has been a whirlwind experience for everyone, but we have needed the time to hire staff, get playbooks ready, set schedules and  every other little thing that must be done to prepare for a season.  The only difference, this staff had less than three months to get all that accomplished.  Once we get into our daily routine, I promise to spend more time with you guys.  I do understand how important your job is and I want to be as accessible as possible. "

FALL PRACTICE BEGINS AUG 5, WILL BE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC
Fall Practice for the Crimson Tide will begin Tuesday, August 5. The fall practices will be closed to the public, as announced by head coach Mike Shula on July 24.

Without the advantage of spring practice, this fall camp will be a very critical part of our preparation for the upcoming season, Shula said.  We need the full attention of our players and coaches.

The season is set to begin August 30 against South Florida. The game will be played at Legion Field. Kickoff is at 3:00 ET.
