Topic: One Minute to live
The following excerpts are from the GNN message board of what to say to someone who has One Minute to live or if you only have a minute to speak to someone about eternity.
Jim Jones:
Thank you, Joe, for listening to me. I have a concern that's really weighing on my heart. We're not promised tomorrow. Death relentlessly stalks each of us. Have you ever stopped and thought about it? Why do we die? The Bible says the soul that sins shall die. It alleges that we've broken God's Law ... the Ten Commandments. Listening to your conscience, can you say you've never told a lie or that you've never stolen? Have you ever looked with lust or used God's name in vain? The Law screams for your blood. Yet, Jesus shed His on the cross. You must turn from your sin and turn to God in repentance. Take a hard look at Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and consider why rather than Hell, God can grant you forgiveness and eternal life.
Garret Clark:
Okay Frank, thanks for the opportunity to speak. If you were to stand before almighty God today, would He find you innocent or guilty of violating His perfect Law? If you've ever lied, stolen, looked with lust, coveted something that doesn't belong to you or used the Lord's name in vain, then the bible promises that you will spend eternitiy in the lake of fire. It also promises that if you repent, that is, stop living for yourself and leave your sinful life behind, AND put your faith in Jesus Christ that He will give you the gift of eternal life. Jesus paid your sentence for you when He suffered and died on the cross in your place. You owe him your life.
Thanks again for listening.
Jeff Fuller:
John, you say to yourself that you are a pretty good guy. Especially in comparison to the really evil people out there. But guess what, you're really not the good person you thought you were. If you've lied once that makes you a liar, but if you think really hard you'll see that you've told many lies throughout your life. If you've stolen one thing then you're a thief... but again I'm sure who taken more than one thing that didn't belong to you... like the answers to your homework in school that you didn't do yourself or some time when you were getting paid at work, but you weren't really working. John that makes you a thief. And John you've committed adultery because the bible says that if you look with lust at women, you've committed adultery with her in your heart. John, admit it, your a guy, you've lusted! You've broken God's law and you'll be counted as evil on the Day of Judgement. And without Christ, the bible says your good works are as filthy rags. So read Revelation 21 and 22 and you'll see that you'll end up in that flaming fire. But John, God commended His love toward us that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We've broken his law and we deserve to go to hell for it, but through Jesus' sacrifice God provided a pardon. He paid you fine, so repent and put your trust in the gift of His Son. Read the bible and obey what you read.
