Do We Remember What This Represents?
I Have Always Been Proud Of This Thin Blue Line. When I Couldn't Depend On Family,
I Could Always Depend On My Fellow Law Enforcement Brother Or Sister. I Have Had My
Back Covered By Some Of The Best. No One Else Knows How It Feels To Pin A Badge Over
Their Heart And Strap A Weapon On And Suddenly The Pucker Factor Begins Tightening
Your Whole Body. You Immediately Begin Living In A Glass House, Every Move You Make
Being Scrutinized And Second Guessed By All. No Longer Are You Expected By John Q Public
To Make Mistakes, Have Personal Problems, Show Any Emotions, Loose Your Temper,
Get Sick, And God Forbid Cry. I Understand Where They Got The Idea To Make The Movie
Robo-Cop. But We Behind This Thin Blue Line Know Better. I Once Heard A Four Year Old
Child Ask Her Father, " Why Did Mama Shoot Herself?" Little Did She Know That Her Father
Had Told His Wife( her mother) Just The Day Before, " I Don't Love You Any More,
I'm Leaving." I Stood There With Other Seasoned Police Officers, With Tears Streaming Down
Our Faces, Watching This Husband And Father Try To Explain To His Three Little Children
As The Four Year Old Repeated, " Why Daddy, Why! "
The Only Comfort That I Found Was This Thin Blue Line That God Gave Me To Have Real
Live Human Beings Who Understood What I Was Going Through. Through The Years I Have
Taken This Thin Blue Line For Granted, But Not Again! So, Don't Talk About My Brothers And
Sisters And Run Them Down. For I Have Purposed In My Heart To Honor This
Thin Blue Line. " Hey Brother, Hey Sister, Lean On Me, I've Got Your Back!!! "
