I beleive in getting respect and establishing
leadership in a positive way when it comes to training
animals. There are a variety of other words I could use instead of
these, that may or may not mean the same thing to you, depending on
your mindset. So let's look at what these terms mean to me....
Respect is;
A two way street. You need to have respect and consideration
for the other party in order to gain it from them.
Understanding. You cannot respect what you don't understand.
Trust. Fear has no place in a respectful relationship.
Leadership is;
Being the respected, elected leader in a relationship.
Being responsible.
Being trusted.
Being supportive.
Positive is;
Beneficial to the animal
Beneficial to the relationship
Fun
Motivational
Effective
Humane
What respect and leadership are not;
Dominating.
Bossy
Forced
Fearful.
