The Main Market This Week

With only the M&S soap opera to break their monotony, traders went on a selling spree on Monday, dragging the FTSE100 down 33 points to 4360. Tuesday was quiet and volumes low as the blue chip index slipped to a two point loss and closed at 4357. Bad vibes from Intel overnight clouded Wednesday’s opening in London. However, after showing red most of the session, a late rally saved the day and hauled the FTSE100 on to a fourteen point gain. It closed at 4372. A bad performance from the financial sector led a retreat on Thursday as the blue chip index staggered to a 31 point loss, closing at 4340.

The Weekly BB Review

@@@@Did you see the Daily Telegraph City Diary entry on Tuesday ? It seems that someone persuaded the RSV SAG ISP to censor the site by replacing references to Shore with XXXX. Naughty, naughty. It seems somebody is getting worried about too much of the story coming out…. Keep up with the news and events through the RSV Shareholders Action Group website, maintained by Anomalous.

CockneyRebel sought to reassure the doubters on the MARCHPOLE HOLDINGS>>>THE LATEST INFORMATION (MPH) thread this week ahead of their much anticipated trading statement. Whilst the upbeat remarks were not universally welcomed, Williemanjaro and wbjunior were happy to mull over the company's last financial statement which showed steady progress was being made. With the publication of good first quarter figures on Thursday morning, dan de lion and all of the regulars looked forward to a winning day. @@@@

As the TFC share price stumbled early in the week, the mood on the TRAFICMASTER - Signs Peugeot with Smartnav thread became a bit downbeat. Morjarias was prepared to be patient but boweryboys just couldn't hold back his enthusiasm. There were general concerns that the share price continued to seek a steady support level but most, like CheshireMoggie were pragmatic enough to appreciate that share prices do not generally travel in straight lines. Thursday's trading statement, kindly posted by TOM306 settled the nerves and had C Lau looking forward to a good day. @@@@ (An amusing aside: A Spanish friend of mine bought a new Peugeot 406 Coupe last week and was upset to see that the on-screen instructions on his SmartNav were in English. I have now become his interpreter. :-) )
