Wow! To all who did not attend the reunion this past weekend: You missed a great time!!!!
To those who did attend, it was really great to see all of you, and it was really great to be the only one there who looked as though I had just graduated from high school…well, OK, almost like that, plus 30 pounds, no hair, etc. Thanks go to the organizing group who very obviously worked very hard to set it up. You did a super job, and I know it was a lot of hard work. It is a shame that it always falls on those who live in Tuscaloosa, but there has to be some bad that goes along with the good of getting to live there. Thank you all!
I have taken the above addresses from the directory that we were given (more hard work to prepare these!) at the Phelps center on Friday night. It includes those who attended, as well as those who did not, so those who did attend, and who listened, will get this twice. But first, please look over the addresses, and if you do not see a classmate’s name whose eMail address you know, send that address to me and I will get this info to him/her
A website was established for our class sometime ago, but it was inactive. The website address is http://www.angelfire.com/al3/ths1958/index.html . Since it is a fairly long one, I’d suggest you bookmark it for future use. It is in the process of being activated, but does have most of the names and addresses of classmates, and a little info and a few pictures. There is a questionnaire that is constantly being refined, thanks to suggestions made by a few early visitors, and will continue to be updated. If you have more suggestions, please eMail me at raherman@bellsouth.net. I am the “Site Administrator”, but as I told the group at the reunion, I know more about brain surgery than I do web sites, so don’t look for much knowledge from me; I just have the contact with the site designer.
We need pictures, old ones, recent ones, reunion pix, past and latest; anything you think might pertain to our Class of ’58. Please send them to me at raherman@bellsouth.net . I will get them posted on the site. I would like to have the names of the people in the pix listed, too, in case I am not familiar with them as they now look…
Further, I have established a group eMail site through yahoo: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/THS58/. This is a place where you can send a message, and it will go to the entire group; but remember, if you send it via this site, IT WILL GO TO THE ENTIRE GROUP. If you reply to a message on this site, IT WILL GO TO THE ENTIRE GROUP, not just to the person who sent it to you, as most eMails go. Ergo, if I send a message saying how beautiful everyone looked at the reunion, don’t hit reply and say, “Yeah, everyone but XXX, who looked as if he’d been on a bender for a month!”, unless, of course, you want everyone to read it. It is a fun, easy way to keep up with the group, send notes about births of grandchildren, their accomplishments, traveling plans, recipes, golf scores, and yes, even deaths of class members. I have one of these in my neighborhood in Atlanta, and in Florida, and they are used constantly.
If you would like to participate in this group, please send me an eMail, and just say, “I’d like to join the yahoo! Group.” I will take it from there. If you don’t like it, all you have to do is let me know and you can bail out at any time.
Also, if you’d like to get off this eMail list, please just hit “reply”, say “take me off”, and you will never hear from me again.
The reunion was another fun time, wish everyone could have attended. I’d like to do it somehow every year, but I know how much work there is, so maybe we can figure out how to just “get together” annually, without a band, catering, and so forth. All criticisms, compliments, volunteers, and ideas are appreciated.
