Is Your Name Written in Heaven?
“Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20)
I. Names of God’s people written in heaven
• “…whose names are in the Book of Life” (Philippians 4:3)
• “To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven…” (Hebrews 12:23)
• “And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)
II. How is my name written in heaven?
A. Not by
i. Morality alone. Example of Cornelius. (Acts 10:1-4)
ii. Obeying the doctrines of men. (Matthew 15:9)
iii. Being sincere. (Acts 23:1, Matthew 7:21-23)
iv. Feeling right. (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25)
v. Just believing. (Acts 2:37, James 2:24)
B. But by
i. Grace. (Ephesians 2:8)
ii. Obedience. (Hebrews 5:9, 12:23)
III. Can a name be blotted out?
A. Revelation 3:3-5
B. Revelation 2:4-5
IV. How important is it for your name to be written in heaven?
• “And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:15)
