I never was interested in photography until the summer of 2001. I was always concerned that some onlooker would see the object of my camera aim and think me ridiculous for wanting a picture of said object. I was the hesitant photographer. I'd only take ten good shots out of a roll of 24 exposure film, and then have to waste half a roll on pictures of my cats (who quickly learned to run away from me should the camera be in my hands).
And then there was the trip overseas. I took pictures of everything that would stand still long enough. I took pictures of the safety video on the airplane because it was my first airplane ride. I was fascinated by being in an airport. I arrived in Vienna and went absolutely nuts with my disposable cameras. Then I got to the Ukraine and had to buy more disposable cameras (which was fun, because they're pretty rare). I left for that trip with three disposable cameras, and returned with six.
Excited by my summer trip, I asked for a camera for Christmas. I got a Canon Rebel G. It's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm learning all about how the camera works, because it's no mere point-and-shoot camera. It's a single lens reflex (SLR) camera. So, anyway, here are my attempts at amateur photography. Enjoy!
