What is a Soul Hunter?

Who were they?
The Soul Hunters were a secret group of warriors from a time long since gone. This ancient group built large temples around the globe, where they spend their time studying the manipulation of Soul Energy. Little is known about them, but recent explorations into the depths of some of their temples have shed some light on their way of life. It is thought that the Soul Hunters were a group of mercenary assassins, working for the highest bidder. Through long years of study, the Soul Hunters learned of the immense power locked inside a being's Soul. Even the smallest of creatures has this power. See here for more info on Soul Energy.
What about Soul Hunter weaponry?
For some unknown reason, the Soul Hunters disappeared, leaving only their temples and scrolls about them. Each of these temples led deep into the ground, many holding vast libraries of information about the Soul Hunters, or ancient Soul Hunter weapons, like the Azurewrath & Crimsonrage katanas. At regular intervals leading down to these libraries and vaults, skeleton warriors, deceased Soul Hunters reanimated with magic, guarded the gateways to the treasures below. These weapons, as well as others such as the Twin Dragons assassin dirks, were infused with the memories of Soul Hunters that died in battle, and these memories are instantly transfered into the first person the wield the weapons within a century, teaching this person the ways of the Soul Hunter. In the hilts of these weapons were installed Soulstones, black crystals enchanted to contain captured Souls, then use the energy of these Souls to the wielder's advantage. Unless the wielder commands the weapons to release their link with him/her, the weapons can only be used by that person, and will reject any other person. See here for a list of known Soul Hunter
Weapons and their current wielders.
How to become a Soul Hunter
Recently a young man named Zaiden_Zephyrwing found the Azurewrath and Crimsonrage katanas, and was infused with their knowledge. He has become the first of the new Soul Hunters. In order to become a Soul Hunter, one must either find a Soul Hunter weapon, or be trained by a Soul Hunter him/herself. If you wish to RP a Soul Hunter Character in Ayenee, I suggest you read the Soul Hunter Rules Page first.
Then either find a Soul Hunter weapon (THIS MUST BE RPED OUT, EITHER IN CHAT OR BY WRITTEN STORY) or find Zaiden_Zephyrwing in chat and persuade him to teach you to be a Soul Hunter. If you choose to find a Soul Hunter weapon, please e-mail me a transcript of it, or write out in story form how you found the weapon. Remember that these weapons were kept deep below Soul Hunter temples, and guarded by magically animated skeleton warriors. Please try to make this interesting, not just "Wannabe_Soul_Hunter walks into the temple, hacks up the skeleton guy peoples, and grabs the Soul hunter weapon, gaining immense power."
The Kage Soul Hunter
A recently discovered Soul Hunter library has shed some light on ancient Soul Hunter abilities. It is said in one of the books that a Soul Hunter should theoretically be able to reach a higher form, known as the Kage Soul Hunter. In this form, the Soul Hunter's strength and speed are doubled, maybe even tripled. His eyes will burn with an inner fire, literally. Great translucent wings will rise from his back, allowing flight. All attacks directed towards the wings simple go through them, unaffecting the wing, due to the spirit nature of the wings. In this form, the Kage Soul Hunter is capable of gathering energy from the Souls of all surrounding things, dead or alive, without having to capture the Soul in a Soulstone. But the disadvantages of attaining the Kage Soul Hunter status for the first time can be devastating. First, the transformation only lasts for a short period of time, approximately one hour, no matter hour many times the form has been reached. Second, the immense amount of energy given to the Kage Soul Hunter is highly unstable. During the transformation, the Kage Soul Hunter is unaffected by the energy, but upon returning to regular form, the effects of the power are visible. The Soul Hunter will be rendered all but dead. They will have no energy left whatsoever, and the strain pushes the limits of even the Soul Hunter with the most resistance to the effects of prolonged Soul Energy use. Also the transformation strains the mind, occasionally resulting in insanity upon the first use. In order to attain this level, a Soul Hunter must first fulfill a list of requirements.
Kage Soul Hunter Requirements
- The Soul Hunter must have possession of at least one Soul Hunter weapon.
- The Soulstones of these weapons must house a total of at least 40SP.
- The Soul Hunter must be able to withstand huge amounts of Soul Energy. This is achieved by controlled use of Soul Energy. The more a Soul Hunter uses Soul Energy, the more adept he is at manipulating it, and can use it for longer periods of time before the strain becomes too much. To achieve the resistance needed, one would probably have to train the character for at least 2 IRL months.
- The Soul Hunter must somehow learn about the Kage Soul Hunter status. This means he must either be told about it from another Soul Hunter, or he must find a Soul Hunter Library that tells of it.
- The more knowledge about the Kage Soul Hunter a Soul Hunter has, the easier it will be to transform.
- It takes huge amounts of concentration to be able to summon up the energy needed for the transformation. Also, there is a minimum of 10 good preps for the first time. This means decent sized paragraphs. Also, if the Soul Hunter is distracted anytime during the preps, all previous preps are void, and he must restart, unless his concentration is so high that nothing can break it.
- Finally, the basis of the Kage Soul Hunter is an endless rage. To reach Kage Soul Hunter status, the Soul Hunter must become so enraged that the lust for his enemy's destruction is the only thing that matters. He will no longer care for his own life, nor anyone else's for that matter. He will only calm down when his enemy is dead, or the transformation wears off, whichever comes first. Remember, after reverting to normal, he will be all but dead.
- After reaching Kage Soul Hunter status for the first time, provided that the Soul Hunter survives, he will be able to use the transformation again. But this takes time, as his body and mind will have to heal from the strain, and even then, he must be able to fulfill the requirements, including the Rage. One advantage of using it again is that the character will gain more resistance to the use of Soul Energy, being able to use more even in normal form.
- After reverting to normal form, the Soul Hunter's Soulstones will be drained of all Soul Points, and they will either have to recharge or new Souls must be attained.
(I know this sounds a lot like a Saiya-jin's SSJ ability, but if you don't like it, just don't become a Soul Hunter and try to reach it. Please don't e-mail about how much you think it sucks, you will only be ignored. Also, if you'll notice, it is much harder to attain than SSJ, providing that the person RPs it out correctly.)
