WOW! what a weekend. Theres nothing like those one day shows 900 miles from home. I-70 Speedway proved to be one fast .543 mile track and with the 30 degree banking corner speeds were the average speed for the Mobile speedway. Scott Hansen and the Fincher Timber crew put a good combination under Richard for his first visit to the speedplant. Practice runs for the day were respectable for a first time visit plus the hot track temperatures made for a day of chasing the track instead of correcting the car. But all in all the team put together a 10th place qualifying spot with a 17.513 time. Race started out pretty uneventful and Richard seemed to be riding with the field and trying not to use up the tires. After a couple of on track mishaps and some heated words with a few unfortunate teams, were not gonna call out any names here, Richard was doing pretty well by staying out of trouble. As the race approached the 200 lap mark we were all getting set for the final run and then it happened. Burned out rear-end, the night is over. It was a tough one take but we think it proved he can run with the traveling ASA series and when he gets more seat time in these cars instead of the here and there seat time that his finishes will improve dramatically. We liked to take this opportunity to thank all the fans that show up week in and week out to support Fincher Timber Racing and we strongly appreciate their support. The next event slated for the Late Model is set to be the KIA 150 at Mobile on July 13th and the following week we are set to run the SAS 150 at Five Flags in Pensacola on the 19th.
