This is a special column in which the President of the chapter will leave a monthly letter regarding the DHS chapter of YDA and will also address the national political scene.

And now, a letter from the President:

My Fellow Democrats,
The formation of our Daphne Chapter of the Young Democrats of America is coming along very nicely, thanks to much support from our fellow democrat constituents. Much thanks goes to Mr. Absher, President of the Alabama Young Democrats, who directed us to the local Baldwin County President, Jerry Nelson. Gratitude is also extended to Mr. Nelson, who has offered his guidance in the formation of our chapter.

As the website states, our chapter was officially founded on February 22, 2001. During a casual conversation with my co-hart, Michael Faulk, we stumbled upon the idea of creating a organization for democrats at our school. Although those pre-mature thoughts originated only a few weeks ago, our diligience, and the support of our fellow democrats, has given birth to the Daphne YDA.

In forming our chapter of the YDA, we wish to pursue three common goals. These goals include participating in community service activities, producing more politically informed voters and citizens, and assisting the campaigns of democrat candidates. Not limiting ourselves to these goals alone, we will initiate any action that represents the ideas and message we stand for.

Some may ask what that idea, or message, is. My simple answer to them would be, "As democrats, we will stand and fight for the betterment of all Americans."
