200T, 1985 (Euro-version). Owner: John Libert. The Netherlands
It was a couple of days ago when I stumbled upon your W123 Gallery. What a great initiative! So here are a bunch of pictures of our pride and joy.
This is our 200T kombi goes by the name of Dodie. Dodie was my wife's grandmother and a woman with great style and class.
The story of our Dodie is the following: She was first registered in October 1985 in Germany. Over the years she had 4 registered owners until she landed in the hands of a collector. This collector at some point sold her to another collector who had her in his collection for a couple of years until he needed to make room. It is now the second half of 2006. At that time we were looking for a W123 kombi. The reason why we wanted a kombi was because of our dog a Dutch Shepard. But during our search we quickly found that original Dutch cars were in general in pretty bad shape with high mileage. What we also learned was that all the so-called old-timer specialists who offered these kind of cars had imported them from Germany and France. So we decided to skip the man in the middle and look for a good car in Germany. And so we found this beautiful 200T online in Nurnberg, Germany. After plenty of emails, pictures and phonecalls we bought her, picked her up in Nurnberg and drove her back to the Netherlands and so since January 2007 this beauty in Barolo red is ours.
When we bought her she had about 154.000 km (approx.. 97.000 miles) on behind her. Since then she has been all over the country visiting ralley's. We have taken her on a couple of short vacations to Germany and in the summer of 2008 we took her on our summer-vacation to Austria during which she covered well over 4000 km. Currently (spring 2009) she is at 170.000 km (approx. 106.000 miles).
Her factory specification includes the following accessories:
411 Sunroof mechanical
466 Central locking (standard)
534 Antenna mechanical, no radio
584 4 Power windows
591 Tainted windows (standard)
843 Split backseat
844 3rd Seat row
Since we have her we have added the following: Chrome vents in front of the windscreen and some Zebrano wooden accents like the shift-knob, centerpiece of the steering wheel and ashtray. Accessory wise we have added to the original rubber mats and seat covers (all in matching color with her dattel interior) the orginal Oris roofrack, 2 orginal Oris roofboxes and a carbox bootliner.
We are proud members of the Dutch Mercedes Benz W123 Club Nederland (www.mbw123club.nl). When you click the link and then "Afbeeldingen" on the left you can find some more pictures of her. If you have any comments or questions then drop us an email at johnlibert@yahoo.com
