The W123 1980 280E was restored by me. It used to be a hideous lime like green and had some issues with rust. It took three W123's to make this one W123. It is a euro-model (pay no attention to the US-bumpers). The skinny bumpers that were originally on it were rusted badly and I got the bumpers, 4 doors, bootlid, and bonnet from a '79 300D . The interior (flawless) was from another '80 280E that was wrecked, and the transmission was from a '80 W116 300SD Turbodiesel that turned into a body parts car. The metal top was so pitted with rust that rather than add filler, I added the vinyl top. It is 100% water tight and took about 6 yards of vinyl (marine grade). A fresh paint job is coming soon and I am not sure what color to paint her yet (blue interior doesn't leave many options). Thanks and it will have a whole different attitude the next time you see it in your gallery. It's kinda sweet now!
