Season 5 PREMIERE DATE!
The WB will leap into the fray with the premiere of its new Friday lineup of ``Sabrina, the Teenage Witch'' (8 p.m.), ``Gross Pointe'' (8:30) and sophomore drama ``Popular'' (9) soon. The move of ``Sabrina'' from ABC to the WB coincides with the series' syndication bow the same week. WB affiliates in four of the nation's top six markets will be airing the off-network run of ``Sabrina,'' so network executives are hoping to piggyback on the promotion surrounding the syndication launch. "Sabrina" Gets Two New Cast Members
Two actresses already familiar to television audiences, Soleil Moon Frye ("Punky Brewster") and Elisa Donovan ("Clueless"), will join the cast of "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch". It was announced by Susanne Daniels, President, Entertainment, during The WB’s presentation at the Television Critics Association gathering in Pasadena. Soleil Moon Frye will play Roxie, Sabrina’s edgy street-wise roommate also in her first year at John Adams College. During her own college years, Ms. Frye made her directorial debut with the feature film "Lunch Time Special," which she wrote and co-directed with her brother, Meeno Peluce. Frye has guest-starred on many different shows, including "Friends" and "Working." Her television movie credits include the Emmy Award-winning "Who Will Love My Children?" co-starring Ann-Margaret and Fredric Forrest. Elisa Donovan has joined the cast as Morgan, Sabrina’s resident advisor who is too busy getting into trouble herself to keep the students on the straight and narrow. Ms. Donovan first garnered the attention of filmgoers in 1994 when she co-starred as the uppity, completely misguided slave to fashion, Amber, in the feature film "Clueless" and then in the television series. More recently, she starred in the E! original movie "Best Actress," and guest-starred on "Just Shoot Me" and "Jack & Jill."

In a close race, the August 25th repeat telecast of Sabrina--its last time ever on ABC--remained consistent in the overnight ratings with a 4.4, and still landed at fourth place in its timeslot. The show was defeated by FOX's "TV's Funniest Game Shows", CBS' "Big Brother", and NBC's "Providence". Last season at this moment, a repeat of Sabrina, helped by "Millionaire"'s lead-in, scored a 6.9. Elsewhere on ABC's "friday night lineup" (for TGIF is dead), a repeat of "Boy Meets World" at 8:30 had a 4.1, and a repeat of "Making the Band" at 9 rose to a 4.3. It was followed by an all new episode, which increased to a 4.6. Rounding out the evening, newsmagazine "20/20" jumped to a 7.0. For the night, ABC averaged a 5.2 rating, behind NBC's 5.9.
