9-9-99 MTV Video Awards

I was at http://www.backstreet.net today and was utterly disappointed in some of our "loyal" fans, whining about every little thing about the MTV Video Music Awards. They were complaining from the boy's attire to their performance to the fact that they were different from what they know of BSB. It's sad that fans expect them to be perfect all the time. Plus they don't want to accept change. Yes, folks, BSB's changing, get over it, but not drastically. Change is the key to longetivity in the music business. I mean, if Madonna had sticked with her "Material Girl" look a long time, do you think she would still be well-known, popular, and respected today? I think not. Look what happened to NKOTB.

Ok, anyway, here's my personal two cents on the boys on 9-9-99. First of all, I thought the guys were majorly stylin'. I mean, come on, it's MTV! Peeps can get away with being different. Who comes in a suit? It's different, but it suited them. Kevin - OMG - don't get me started on those bare biceps!!! He's so sexy he can look good in a potato sack! Ok, now on to Nick. Everyone's been complaining about him because he's losing his cute little blonde image. Though I didn't care too much for the hair, he looked good!!! That boy's gettin' buff! I love Howie's corn rows!!! And Brian looked so adorable! Ok, finally AJ! He looked really good! At first I didn't care much for the crop top (my friends and I were making some crude AJ/Britney jokes after that LOL), but after seeing the LTL video yesterday, it was alright because it fit with the whole theme of it. Who knows what'll be in fashion in the future, right?

On to the performance. They kicked ass!!!! I loved it as a IWITW/LTL medley. I know others have been complaining about the singing, but I thought they sounded good! You know how difficult it is to sing and do a big dance routine? In the beginning, Nick was a little off, but we know that he usually has a great voice, even live (think Heaven In Your Eyes). He must've been sick or something. That choreography - Fatima really outdid herself this time! It's amazing! The other dancers crowding around them was a little annoying at times, since they were all wearing the same color, but it's all good. Now I can't wait to see them doing live when I see them in concert in November!!!

Oh yeah, I forgot! WHOO HOO they won the Viewer's Choice Award! Way to go, y'all!!! :o)

LARGER THAN LIFE video

I was totally shocked when I saw this video. It was amazing! Right up there with Everybody (Backstreet's Back)! I loved the whole futuristic concept. And doesn't Kevin look awesome? I bet he had a blast pretending to be a fighter pilot :o) The dance was the exact same from the VMAs, which was terrific!
