This family source is from Dolly Ziegler. I have looked for this line but have not found anything on Louisa, I have found a little on a ELKANA SULLIVAN age 77 ,1850 Pontotoc Ms census, could be a brother to Caleb. Also found a James D Sullivan age 40 same census as above.

As Of June 5,1998, it is not known who the children are of Wm & Mary. Dec 8,1998 still do not know the Children of Wm & Mary, i am putting James Grimes as his son because James was in Coffee Co., near his cousins in 1850. Any children on this page is not proven yet,but they seem to fit with Wm and Mary. Christine Grimes Thacker.

* I was just told this month (July,1999) that Lettice Kornegay Grimes died ca 1820 in Ga. So I am wondering why it took so long to do the guardianship papers. I do have other papers on this family.

Notes for JANE FREDERICK:
In the Frederick family tree it has a Jane that married a Grimes, there is a belief that this is the Jane Frederick that married THOMAS GRIMES. Jane Had a sister named Catherine that Married a John Grimes. He died ca1837 in Stewart CO.,Ga. After the death, Cahterine and her family seemed to be near Thomas and his Family, even when they went to Texas.

WM. S. Grimes a cousin Wrote many letters to his brother Jesse Grimes from his home in Washington Co., Ala. to Texas where his brother Jesse moved to in about 1828 from Washington Co., Ala. The letter below was wrote Dec.12,1848, these letters are now in the Eugene C. Barker Texas History Center. This letter is numbered 71.

"I have just got a letter from Thos. Grimes he is living in this State in Coffee County, Isaac is there also Jacks widow & her children married & singles there is a goodly number of them, Stephen is in Dale & Bryan in Marengo, Lewis in Georgia & Wms widow there with him, I presume they are all poor & Tom is in rather a bad thay" (i think this was meant as way)

I do wish to thank Hugh and Betty Grimes of Houma, La. for the help and info they have found. Without their help, I do believe that a lot of Stephen's descendant's would not have the info on our ancestors that we now have. They found the above letter and then they found me later. I had just found Bethany and Stephen Grimes in the 1850 census, (in the census index Stephen is under Grim's not Grimes). How I found the family was I was just looking through the neighborhood in the census and there was a Stephen Grimes with a dau Charlotte, my GGgrandmother. No one in Ozark remembered her name either. So i had to find her. That was easy for there were not too many Grimes in Dale Co.,Al, at that time; a lot in Coffee and Pike Co.,Al, though.

I am trying to update my info on this line of the family. Someone has Esther and Husband buried Branch Cemetery. It is not a cemetery per-say; it is a plot of land that once belong to Sampson Grimes, it is believed. Hugh Grimes of Homua,La, visited there with wife Betty, and later went back with his son, Rusty, and placed a tombstone for Hugh Grimes and son Sampson . I will try to get him to write me a little story on what he did and put that info in later.

I know that most papers that can be found on Joseph state that he died ca 1787/1790. The papers that I have from the Archieves at Raleigh,NC has a date as early as 1783, as him being deceased. There is paper work dated 1795 on or about the estate of Joseph.
