“A COUNTRY OF FREEDOM OR CRUELTY?”
A country that should stand for liberty,
Whose leaders need to care for the people;
So that none be oppressed in poverty,
The world looks at like a giant pimple.
A country that fought for independence
And their mighty song was let freedom ring
And yet some say ‘Get out of our Presence’.
‘You’ve beat us, now we’re like birds with one wing.’
From the tragedies they caused in cold war,
Fighting like two little boys in the sand,
To its invasion of country’s afar,
Like dictators who want control of land.
But the dishonor of country is rare
Most of its citizens really do care!
I wrote this sonnet in the spirit of being extremely tired of being forced to write sonnets in English class...This is directed at a certain english teacher of mine. No offense to Shakespeare or Edmund Spencer who are far better Sonneterians than I ever would be.
"SONNET SUB ZERO”
Sonnets are a waste of my precious time
The are full of love and passionate crud
The Evil one has us do them on the dime
Like making us work means he’s a stud
‘Gee!’ these are as fun as chewing cud
“I love and hate you!” they are about
“Your skin is beautiful like a rose bud!”
Do words impress women; I highly doubt!
The morons who made them should be thrown out
And what is iambic pentameter
But another way to make me spout-
Vomit all over! I’d rather eat fur
I guess this is a funny joke to you
If I write another verse I may spew.
