Michelle's Way

Life has no solid meaning. The Webster's Dictionary defines it as: (a) the quality that distinguises a vital and functional being from a DEAD BODY or purely chemical matter.
As a scientist I understand this meaning but I feel that there is a deeper meaning to life and that these next few poems and stories, and pictures describe it well.

-(a warm thank you to my friend Joey for this gorgeous photograph!)
Roses! They are so beautiul, aren't they!
Red roses were her favorites, her
name was also Rose.
And every year her husband sent them,
tied with pretty bows.
The year he died, the roses were
delivered to her door.
The card said, "Be my Valentine", like
all the years before.
Each year he sent her roses, and the
note would always say,
"I love you even more this year, than
last year on this day.
My love for you will always grow,
with every passing year."
She knew this was the last time that
the roses would appear.
She thought, he ordered roses in
advance before this day.
Her loving husband did not know, that
he would pass away.
He always liked to do things early, way
before the time.
Then, if he got too busy, everything
would work out fine.
She trimmed the stems, and placed them
in a very special vase.
Then, sat the vase beside the portrait
of his smiling face.
She would sit for hours, in her
husband's favorite chair.
While staring at his picture, and the
roses sitting there.
A year went by, and it was hard to live
without her mate.
With loneliness and solitude, that had
become her fate.
Then, the very hour, as on Valentines before.
The doorbell rang, and there were
roses, sitting by her door.
She brought the roses in, and then just
looked at them in shock.
Then, went to get the telephone, to
call the florist shop.
The owner answered, and she asked him,
if he would explain,
Why would someone do this to her,
causing her such pain?
"I know your husband passed away, more
than a year ago,
" The owner said, "I knew you'd call, and
you would want to know.
The flowers you received today, were
paid for in advance.
Your husband always planned ahead, he
left nothing to chance.
There is a standing order, that I have
on file down here,
And he has paid, well in advance,
you'll get them every year.
There also is another thing, that I
think you should know,
He wrote a special little card...he did
this years ago.
Then, should ever I find out that he's
no longer here,
That's the card...that should be sent,
to you the following year."
She thanked him and hung up the phone,
her tears now flowing hard.
Her fingers shaking, as she slowly
reached to get the card.
Inside the card, she saw that he had
written her a note.
Then, as she stared in total silence,
this is what he wrote...
"Hello my love, I know it's been a year
since I've been gone,
I hope it hasn't been too hard for you
to overcome.
I know it must be lonely, and the pain
is very real.
For if it was the other way, I know how
I would feel.
The love we shared made everything so
beautiful in life.
I loved you more than words can say,
you were the perfect wife.
You were my friend and lover, you
fulfilled my every need.
I know it's only been a year, but
please try not to grieve.
I want you to be happy, even when you
shed your tears.
That is why the roses will be sent to
you for years.
When you get these roses, think of all
the happiness,
That we had together, and how both of
us were blessed.
I have always loved you and I know I always will.
But, my love, you must go on,
you have some living still.
Please...try to find happiness, while
living out your days.
I know it is not easy, but I hope you
find some ways.
The roses will come every year, and
they will only stop,
When your door's not answered, when the
florist stops to knock.
He will come five times that day, in
case you have gone out.
But after his last visit, he will know
without a doubt,
To take the roses to the place, where
I've instructed him,
And place the roses where we are,
together once again.
Sometimes in life, you find a special friend;Someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop;Someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is Forever Friendship. And Forever Friendship is Life.

The following poem is sad but it does connect with life. Life is all about how we deal with our ups and downs. Life is Beautiful, and life is Sad. The tragedies that we go through can also help to remind us of how precious life is.

Poems and Stories of Inspiration

CLASS RING

Close by the door
he paused to stand
as he took his class ring
off of her hand
all who were watching
didn't dare to speak
as a silent tear
ran down his cheek
and through his mind
the memories ran
of the moments they walked
and laughed hand in hand
but now her eyes were so very cold
for he would never again
have her to hold
they watched in silence
as he bent near
and whispered "I love you" in her ear
he touch her face and started to cry
as he put on his ring and wanted to die
and just then the wind began to blow
as they lowered her casket
into the snow
this is what happens
to man alive
when friends let friends
drink and drive.

Three Trees Stand Out

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Some day I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intrcate carving and everyone would see the beauty." Then the second tree said,"Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will carry kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull." Finally the thrid tree said,"I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on the top of the hill and look up at my branches and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I'm reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."
After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first one he said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter"... and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy because he knew the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest. At the second tree a woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship. When the woodsman came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree so I'll take this one," and he cut it down.
When the first tree went to the carpenter's he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then plaved in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he prayed for. The second tree was cut into small pieces and made into a fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark.
The years went by and the trees forgot about their dreams. Then one day, a man and a woman came into the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished he could've made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of them all. Years later, a group of men got in a fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke up the sleeping man and he stood and said "Peace." and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat. Finally someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be close to God as was possible because Jesus had been crucified on it.
There is a moral to this story. The one that I recieved goes like this, "When things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that his ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best."
I don't intend this to be religion shoved down anyone's throat. It's what I believe and I am just sharing it with you.

11 things in life worth reading

1. It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, But what is more painful is to love someone and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.
2. A sad thing in life is when you meet someone who means a lot to you, only to find out in the end that it was never meant to be and you just have to let go.
3. The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.
4.It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
5. It takes only a minute to get a crush on someone, an hour to like someone, and a day to love someone- but it takes a lifetime to forget someone.
6. Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright.
7. Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.
8. Always put yourself in the other's shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts the person too.
9. A careless word may kindle strife; a cruel word may wreck a life; a timely word may level stress; a loving word may heal and bless.
10. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything they just make the most of everything that comes along their way.
11. Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, ends with a tear.
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you're the one smiling and everyone around you is crying. Always remember - Life is precious, don't let it slip by. ........
