The change comes like lightning,
quickly flashing with little thunder-warning.
Before I can tell that you've moved,
you've changed-
your face twisted with quiet rage,
little spots of hate and fear
riddling your cheeks.
And your eyes turn so cold
-eyes that once looked at me like a present
waiting to be unwrapped-
Your hurt comes out cruelly,
little flecks of venom--blue green--
they embed themselves in my eyes, ears, my nose--
the poisons seep into my bloodstream,
disturbing my sleep and colouring my thoughts
dark-red.
