CONVERSATION MALAY Made EASY:
Here is the converstaion made easy in Malay.It is spoken well over 250 million people and even in th U.N.
I hope I have achieved my target of Making the Malay Language known to you and hoping in the near future would be well recognize as one of the fundamental, important media. I hope you enjoyed this course.Probably in a year's time you might be able to write a novel in MALAY.....(just kidding).
I have to start by giving the translation first,and then do the grammar proper. This is too easy,and I amd just going to show you how simple it is to master the language.Keepon reading.
Translation:
I, my, myself = saya, aku, ku. You, yourself, your = awak, engkau, mu.
Name = nama.
is, are =ialah, adalah.
My name is .....=Nama saya ialah....
That's easy. I am just starting this program and so it will take time for the said course to end. Try to memorize the above words at heart and follow the lesson(top priority).Even if you get the pronounciation wrong just say the words right. And SMILE!
we, us = kita, kami. eat, eating= makan, sedang makan.
rice = nasi. and = dan. curry = kari.
We are eating rice and curry = Kita sedang makan nasi dan kari.
He = dia.
His name is .....= Nama dia ialah....
He is eating rice and curry=Dia sedang makan nasi dan kari.
It is possible for you to find that it is a bit puzzling because the verbs in Malay is slioghtly different in standing order as English is. But we will come to that later on......
All right now..... ia am going to translate the household words we see everyday, yes right in our own home!
Chair = Kerusi. Table = Meja.
tea-cup = cawan teh. drink, drinking = minum, sedang minum. sit, sitting =duduk, sedang duduk.
Now let's make some sentences: I am sitting on a chair = Saya sedang duduk di kerusi.
I drink tea = Saya minum teh.
If you ever happened to visit to Singapore, Malaysia or Indonesia and that would be a long way from home, but do remember that the Malay language do get you in touch with the speakers' homes in S.E Asia and you will feel important that you have mastered it. )Or at least. And so far you have learnt about 50 words. That is my good friend a very good beginning and a start of something exciting!
Actually in Malay Language the plural for common nouns are repeated twice: chair=kerusi(singular); chairs=kerusi-kerusi(plural)
houses=rumah-rumah; cars=kereta-kereta
And that goes for everything plural for all things in Malay.This is too easey.
Incidently I hope not to bore you with all those lessons and lessons that so much often we heard that students in High School just run off from attending and played truants. I did. I hope to create a joke or two.Here's one for you below!
"Sorry there's nothing here"....
I thought of getting things faster for all readers so that we could get things going like in a train ride.Here's something that will keep us busy for a day:
How are you? = Bagaimana anda? I am fine =saya baik-baik saja.
fine = baik-baik.
Thank you =terima kasih.
Welcome = selamat datang.
Hello = helo.
Today= hari ini
Tomorrow = esok, besok
Yesterday =semalam
I write= saya menulis
I am writing =Saya sedang menulis.
write=menulis, tulis. writing = sedang menulis.
read = baca, membaca.
reading =sedang membaca
This is one of the easiest task of understanding a language..
In Malay language there is no singular verb "to be" or the plural verb "to be".That is to say for example:
This is a chair=Ini adalah kerusi.Do you remember that I told you if the plura of a common noun we repeated the word itself, such as:
chairs=kerusi-kerusi.
GET it!!!
That's easy..... WELL DONE
You could begin now.The MAGIC is in the AIR!
Now how about the conversation in the public that you might have herad but could not understand. This is the dialect forum kind of thing, the speech by the locals!
Example:Engkau dah makan!=Have you eaten!
Apa ni!=What's happening!
( to be continued.)
